Trusts & Estates Paralegal/Accountant Responsibilities: Prepare gift and estate tax returns. Prepare probate and administration proceedings, estate and trust accountings (judicial and non-judicial), and other court filings. Assist in drafting, retaining, and organizing Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, purchase agreements, promissory notes and other legal documents. Assist in transfer of assets to and from individuals, estates and trusts. Preparation of estate plan summary binders and flowcharts. Preparation and submission of beneficiary designation forms for life insurance and retirement accounts. Maintain tickler system for probate filing deadlines. Meet and correspond with clients as needed. Qualifications: College degree and/or paralegal certificate required. 1+ year of experience as a paralegal or accountant desired. An accounting degree, if hired, would have the title of Trusts & Estates Accountant and would compensation on par with that offered by local boutique accounting firms. Understanding of estate and gift tax and probate administration desired. Proven analytical and mathematical skills. Ability to deal professionally and communicate clearly and concisely with attorneys and clients. Ability to be flexible, handle pressure and adapt to changing work priorities, work flow and work assignments. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and productivity standards. Highly organized and close attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and anticipate client and attorney needs. Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) required.
