Family Law Litigation Paralegal Duties: Communication with clients, courts and opposing counsel and other related tasks; organizing evidence; drafting court pleadings and correspondence; scheduling hearings; trial preparation; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports; keeping clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress; supporting case preparation for mediation, hearings and trials; organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; preparing witness affidavits, child support worksheets and domestic relations financial affidavits; reviewing financial documents; assisting the lawyer in the courtroom. Represents clients with high-value assets and complex custody cases, and the paralegal should have a background working on such cases.
Qualifications: 4+ years of experience in litigation and family law to support their growing practice. Firsthand experience and knowledge of legal processes. Litigation experience, especially assisting at trial. Must be able to draft child support worksheets, domestic relations financial affidavits, and parenting plans. Must have: attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational and communication skills; analytical skills; critical thinking skills; information monitoring; confidentiality; teamwork. Self-motivating, intelligent, and disciplined. Keen organization, planning and implementation skills. Technologically proficiency in Windows and mastery of Word and Excel. Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. Understand need for and comply with client confidentiality.
