Prepare deposition outlines, memos and summaries. Summarize and analyze medical records and assist with e-discovery. Gather lien information and handle lien negotiations, including health insurers, medical providers, etc. Conduct legal research, analyze issues and craft legal research memos. Schedule depositions of clients, defendants, individual and corporate witnesses, etc. Obtain and organize pertinent information from clients, including treatment status, doctor appointment information, changes in medical care and/or work status, documents and records information and the like. Maintain communication with clients and update the clients files accordingly. Obtain certified medical bills, medical records and other documents from healthcare providers and other facilities in preparation for trial. Organize and index exhibits; prepare trial binders, and manage document-intensive files. Serve as a liaison between the trial team and third parties such as witnesses, clients, vendors, experts and courtroom personnel. Prepare and handle exhibits for use at trial. Coordinate logistical needs, such as reserving hotels and office space as well as reserving equipment, for depositions and trials. Prepare for mediations, including mediation memos. Draft settlement brochures, agreements and releases & distribute settlement statement or negotiation checklists under attorney supervision. Requirements: Paralegal Certification and 4+ years of plaintiffs personal injury civil litigation experience is required. Medical records expertise. Strong time management and organizational skills required. Must be able to multi-task and handle tasks quickly and tactfully with all levels of firm personnel and the public. Strong client service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive and enthusiastic attitude, detail oriented, self-motivate and professional Data entry proficiency and computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.). Paralegal Duties: Responsible for supporting attorneys in the various aspects of litigation related to case preparation, management, and execution. Participates in all aspects of discovery and file or trial preparation as required by supervisor. May prepare draft discovery documents. Maintains an expert database and researches opposing counsels experts. Makes travel arrangements and provides directions and other necessary information to attorney. Performs research pertaining to legal issues and precedents related to particular cases. Files documents with the various courts. Performs clerical duties such as typing and filing to the extent required to produce work product or assure proper organization of case files. Enters billable time into computer on a daily basis. Meets a minimum billing requirement of 140 hours per month (1680 per year). Performs non-billable functions, including but not limited to, participating on strategic committees, assisting in seminar development, assisting with production of presentations, mentoring and training new employees. Ensures all functions are performed in exact accordance with applicable client guidelines. Remains flexible and open to requests for support or assistance outside of the scope of this job description and to other duties as directed by the Management team. Qualifications: Bachelors or better Preferred. Certified Paralegal Preferred. 3 years' Litigation experience required. Knowledge of legal principles and practices in order to assume responsibility of providing support for attorney team members in case management and information gathering at a level normally acquired through completion of an associates degree or certified paralegal education. Knowledge of the various courts, their rules and filing requirements. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and clients and to provide information with ordinary courtesy, diplomacy and tact. Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and attention to detail skills to allow for timely, effective, and accurate performance of job duties. Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in confidential matters. Accurate typing ability of 45 wpm and comprehensive computer and office equipment experience.
