Litigation Paralegal Duties: Protecting sophisticated financial services clients in enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters. As a paralegal, you will support litigation, federal and state investigations, corporate compliance and regulatory work. Work will often involve legal issues that have never been decided before by the courts or any tribunal and entail bet the company style matters. Design and implement effective processes, work in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated by leading projects from the ground up. You should be a whip-smart, meticulous self-starter who can be trusted to exercise independent judgment, provide creative solutions and demonstrate commitment to important client work. You will work closely with a former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFBP) official and as needed with colleagues across the Dorsey platform. Organize and manage complex collections of business information, financial records, witness statements, interviews, and other documents. Develop intelligent systems and methodologies to efficiently track and ascertain documents, data, or information for investigations or litigation matters. Perform legal research, draft requests for orders and memorandum of points and authorities, and responses/oppositions, propound and respond to all forms of discovery. Research legal issues, cite-check and shepardize briefs or position papers. Draft original correspondence and materials for communication under attorney s signature. On a limited basis, draft original correspondence, within the ethical boundaries of a paralegal position, to various parties and clients for own signature. Exercise strategic and analytic skills to undertake relevant factual or legal research for attorney use in defense of clients. Communicate with clients, government agencies/officials, consultants, internal colleagues, and team members at various levels on a regular basis to drive the process to timely collect and assemble information. Apply in-depth knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and activities to paralegal tasks. On an occasional basis, represent attorney in selected proceedings that do not require the exercise of legal judgment. May perform other tasks as necessary or as directed. Requirements: Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience. 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal. Strong work ethic, takes pride in and ownership over one s work. Understanding of Federal, California and local rules of procedure and court filing procedures. Experience with preparation related to investigational hearings, court hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations and/or mediations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills. High level of attention to detail. Ability to actively manage projects in a fast-moving, high pressure environment. Knowledge of e-discovery software and databases is preferred. Ability to manage internal customer relationship with an emphasis on prompt, respectful service.
