Patent Paralegal Duties: Filing U.S. provisional, non-provisional, national stage and design patent applications with the USPTO. Filing PCT applications using PCT-SAFE software. Handling standard USPTO filings and formalities, including amendments, IDSs, inventor declarations, assignments, issue fees, etc.. Reading and understanding U.S. patent office actions in order to pull prior art references and prepare shell office action responses for attorneys. Reading and understanding PCT official communications, foreign office actions and foreign associate correspondence to pull prior art references and coordinate with attorneys to instruct foreign associates. Pulling documents from WIPO, Espacenet and national patent offices. Running status reports on patent families. Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of the patenting process in the U.S. from initial filing through grant and maintenance fees. Ability to read and understand a patent docket. Ability to stay on top of large patent dockets and diverse patent portfolios. Strong computer skills and capabilities with key MS Office software, including Word, Adobe and PowerPoint.
