Litigation Paralegal Duties: Handling case management by reviewing and analyzing claims file materials, preparing notebooks, indexing and comparing documents, and creating and maintaining medical chronologies and billing summaries. Handling all aspects of discovery, which includes preparing and serving discovery requests, summarizing discovery responses, and identifying and obtaining all documents needed to complete discovery. Preparing Subpoenas Duces Tecum and conducting investigation research. Assisting the attorney with exhibits, documents, and file preparation for deposition, arbitration, and/or trial. Identifying and understanding each client-specific billing guideline and ensure all billable work is being performed within those guidelines. Assisting with the preparation, filing, and service of pleadings. Acting as a liaison among all parties including a court or other neutrals for scheduling and sharing information. Organizing and managing documents, including the creation of spreadsheets and retrieval systems. Coordinating the collection, review, and production of documents and responding to discovery requests. Assisting with trial preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders, and appendices for depositions and court filings. Summarizing deposition and trial transcripts and exhibits. Researching case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside referral sources. Compiling information and, preparing statistics, charts, graphs, and other summaries to detail the findings. Reviewing and responding to written discovery requests. Reviewing medical records/bills and create a medical summary and medical billing. Performing in-depth research and investigation for case development. Assisting attorneys with exhibits, documents, and file preparation for deposition, arbitration, and trial. Identifying and understanding each client-specific billing guideline to ensure work is being performed within those guidelines. Qualifications: Must be a paralegal with 3+ years of experience in litigation who has demonstrated the ability to handle complex assignments, work independently, have excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, and has experience with the commercial side of the law. Familiarity with medical chronologies and/or the insurance industry is a plus, as well as experience in preparing Motions, Affidavits, Orders, Requests for Production, Requests for Admissions, Subpoena Duces Tecum. Should preferably have the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple deadlines, monitor and case management of litigation files, including tracking deadlines, move cases forward with little supervision, draft various pleadings such as Motions, Affidavits, Orders, Request for Production, Requests for Admissions, Subpoena Duces Tecum, etc., specific to the case. Familiarity with Oregon law is needed.
