Paralegal, I.P. - U.S. Patent Prosecution The candidate will be coordinating and filing of U.S. Non-Provisional and Provisional Applications; Design Applications; U.S. National Stage Filings. Written and verbal communications with clients and USPTO personnel. Preparing documents including, but not limited to U.S. Formal Documents, responses to Office Actions and Information Disclosure Statements. Review and manage docket for deadlines, must have the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks on an ongoing, immediate basis, understand docket and deadlines and action needed on each file; inform working attorney of deadlines; preparation of weekly docket reports. Monitor dockets and manage filings utilizing the CPI docketing systems. Assist attorneys in obtaining and organizing evidence in support of responses to office actions. Preparing and providing docket and status reports for clients. Support patent prosecution attorneys. Perform assigned legal research tasks using all available resources including computer data systems and websites. Liaise with clients and associates. Bachelor's degree required. One (1) to five (5) years minimum work experience in a law firm environment, or related professional experience. Knowledge of USPTO filings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MSWord, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; working knowledge of FileSite document management system is a plus. Proficiency in utilizing the Internet, Adobe Acrobat, U.S. Patent Office Electronic Filing System; experience with legal research tools preferred. Knowledge and experience with CPI docketing systems preferred. Knowledge and experience with filing documents in ex parte reexaminations preferred. Knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks so as to perform essential duties of the position under time constraints and with frequent interruptions. Ability to proofread materials for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors. Ability to work well in high pressure environments. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, photocopiers and fax. Must have strong organizational, decision-making skills and problem-solving skills. Must be reliable and a self-starter. Must be available to work overtime, including weekend hours, when necessary to meet established deadlines or stay current with occasional peaks in workload. Must be willing to change regular work schedule to meet the needs of the Firm. Must be able to lift boxes of files weighing approximately 15 pounds. Must be able to routinely lift and carry file folders weighing up to 5-10 pounds. Must be able to spend long periods of time working at computer workstation. Must be able to lift, squat, kneel and bend. Bachelors or better. 1-5 years: minimum work experience in a law firm environment, or related professional experience. Certified Paralegal-NALA.
