Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for communicating with clients, courts, and opposing counsels as needed/directed by attorneys. Drafting/preparation of various filing forms, discovery requests, discovery responses, pre-trial, and dispositive motions as assigned. Arrange and oversee service of process on defendants as well as service of subpoenas on witnesses. Filing/E-filing of final documents including pleadings, briefs, motions, etc. Service/E-service of discovery materials including interrogatories, request for production of documents, request for admissions, deposition notices, etc. Review and analyze discovery documents received from opposing counsels and prepare summaries of same for attorneys. Other case specific tasks as assigned. The candidate must have 1+ year of litigation support experience. Must have at least an Associates degree from an accredited college/university; applicants with a Bachelors degree in English, pre-law, criminal justice, or business management, will be given extra consideration. Ability to communicate in spoken and written English language is required; Spanish is helpful. Extra consideration will be given to those who are bilingual. Must be detail oriented and extremely organized. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments in order to meet deadlines. Must be reliable and punctual; must be willing to, on occasion, arrive early or stay late to meet deadlines or complete time sensitive projects. Must be able to produce quality written work under tight deadlines. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Outlook Excel, and Adobe and be comfortable learning other software programs such as Lexis and/or WestLaw as needed. Extra consideration will be given to applicants who have a working knowledge of Lexis and/or WestLaw. Must be able to work independently and as a team-player. This includes a willingness to learn other duties and cross-train with other staff members.
