Legal Secretary/assistant (Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation) The candidate will play an intricate role in the day-to-day operations as the legal assistant will assist with case management, legal document preparation, billing projects, and time entry. Duties will include scanning incoming mail, calendaring deadlines, speaking with clients and various courts, occasional runs to the court, legal document preparation and retrieving the mail along with other general office duties. Request and review medical records and compile the discoveries in medical chronologies. Must have 2+ years of previous Insurance Defense experience in a law firm. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel. Bodily Injury experience is a big plus. Must have expertise with reviewing medical records and compiling medical chronologies. Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, be detail oriented, hard-working, enthusiastic, team oriented, and have a determination to "figure it out." Must have active knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, preparing and responding to discovery, subpoenas as well as knowledge and experience in preparing basic legal documents and pleadings. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
