Litigation Paralegal The candidate will aid litigation attorney in drafting lawsuits, complaints, statement of claims, summons, pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, notices, affidavits, petitions, subpoenas. File litigation documents via Odyssey, Peachcourt, Pacer/CM/ECF-GA, etc. Locate witnesses for interviews and gather witness statements. Contact expert witnesses and coordinate meetings, document exchanges, and appearances of expert witness as necessary. Maintain discovery and pleading indexes. Review and/or organize voluminous case files subsequent to prior handling. Calendar discovery deadlines; organize. Review and analyze documents for production. Prepare deposition outlines, memos and summaries. Conduct legal research, analyze issues and craft legal research memos. Schedule depositions of clients, defendants, individual and corporate witnesses, etc. Obtain and organize pertinent information from clients, including treatment status, doctor appointment information, changes in medical care and/or work status, documents and records information. Maintain communication with clients and update the clients files accordingly. Obtain certified medical bills, medical records and other documents from healthcare providers and other facilities in preparation for trial. Organize and index exhibits; prepare trial binders, and manage document-intensive files. Serve as a liaison between the trial team and third parties such as witnesses, clients, vendors, experts and courtroom personnel. Prepare and handle exhibits for use at trial. Prepare for mediations, including mediation memos. Draft settlement brochures, agreements and releases & distribute settlement statement or negotiation checklists under attorney supervision. Other duties as assigned. Strong time management and organizational skills required. Must be able to multi-task and handle tasks quickly and tactfully with all levels of firm personnel and the public. Strong client service skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Data entry proficiency and computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.) required. 3 year of experience preferred.
