Immigration Paralegal Duties: Assist with all types of employment-based immigration cases with particular emphasis on H-1B, L-1, PERM Labor Certification, Extraordinary/Outstanding and other Immigrant Petitions/Applications. Develop and maintain systems to collect, store and retrieve data. Locate and expedite requested documentation. Draft original correspondence and materials for communication under attorney s signature. On a limited basis, draft original correspondence, within the ethical boundaries of a paralegal position, to various parties and clients for own signature. Conduct some factual research and legal research, if applicable within department, and assemble for attorney use. Communicate with clients, government agencies/officials, consultants and various other parties on a regular basis to collect and assemble information. Communicate findings to attorney; communicate as agent of attorney. Apply in-depth knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and activities to paralegal tasks. On a limited basis, represent attorney in selected proceedings that do not require the exercise of legal judgment. May be requested to perform other duties not listed above. Requirements: Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate. 3+ years of relevant employment-based immigration law experience. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Thorough understanding of employment-based immigration processes. Demonstrated analytical ability. Highly professional demeanor and work ethic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desired: Large law firm experience. Experience reviewing government regulations and reporting findings to attorney. General Labor and Employment experience. LawLogix or comparable immigration law database experience. Strong research skills regarding changes to agency policy and procedure, pending legislation, government memoranda and legal practice of immigration law.
