Immigration Paralegal The candidate will be responsible to prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits, preparing witnesses, drafting motions and briefs. Prepares legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, applications for relief: EOIR 42-B, I-589, I-130, I-485, I-601, I-192, I-918 etc. Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case. Files pleadings with court clerk. Gathers and analyzes research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, country conditions reports and documents. Prepares witnesses to testify at hearings or interviews after drafting witness declarations. Attends USCIS and ICE interviews. Investigates facts and law of cases and search pertinent sources, such as public records, to determine possible relief options and to prepare cases. Directs and coordinate law office activity, including enforcement of court and office deadlines. The candidate must have minimum of 3 years experience as immigration paralegal preparing applications for immigration court and USCIS/DOS. Knowledge of structure and grammar, including the meaning of words, rules of composition and grammar is needed. Must be fluent in conversational Spanish and meticulous written US English Grammar is essential. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process is required as well as knowledge of Immigration Court and BIA Practice Manuals. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records (case management systems), transcription, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology is required. Knowledge of computer hardware and software including immigration forms applications and programming is compulsory preferably knows INS Zoom. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services is required. Ability to recognize potential disorders in trauma victims such as PTSD and work effectively with empathy and compassion is needed.
