Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary - Litigation Responsibilities: Provide support to attorneys and paralegal in litigation and insurance defense practice. Communicate with clients, judicial administrative staff, and vendors. Prepare legal documents and update transactional documents with ability to redline complex documents. Prepare production and privilege logs. Draft subpoenas, interrogatory responses, and document requests. Proofread and format documents as necessary. Prepare witness subpoenas and arrange service of process. Schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions. Schedule court reporters/videographers and witnesses. Perform internet research to locate witnesses or relevant information. Perform factual and legal authority cite checking for legal briefs. Prepare documents in compliance with pretrial orders. Assist with trial and hearing preparation. Process conflict search and new business intake requests. Transcribe attorney dictation. Prepare discovery responses from attorney notes, file documents, or from interviews with client. Transmit legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials by electronic filing, mail, fax, or messenger. Bill time to file using LEDES codes as appropriate. Organize and maintain case and correspondence files. Monitor deadlines and maintain calendars. Check status of cases through Case Information System. Organize medical notebooks. Function as notary public. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications: College degree preferred. 2+ years of law firm experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Technical competency with various databases and financial and billing applications desired. Experience with court filing systems and requirements required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with firm personnel at all levels. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and resolve problems. Ability to prioritize work and manage competing priorities with flexibility. Client service mindset and friendly demeanor. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong detail orientation with high level of organizational skills.
