Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Obtains and manages client documents, including electronic data, and determines the potential existence of documents that may be relevant to each case. Conducts extensive background and social media searches and obtains properly authenticated records as needed; conducts research on state and federal court filings, including civil, criminal, and bankruptcy index searches. Drafts documents for attorney review: removal documents, certificates of interested parties, answers, initial disclosures, various motions and orders, scheduling orders, protective orders, deposition notices, affidavits and declarations, discovery, and our responses to discovery (including special interrogatories and requests for production and targeted objections to discovery requests), settlement agreements, dismissal documents, etc. Provides support on dispositive motions, including evidence in support of / opposition to summary judgment/adjudication, specifically separate statements. Prepares and serves subpoenas. Consistently and accurately identifies and prepares all documents for production including Bates labeling and redacting privileged and confidential information. Effectively assists in preparation for trial including managing exhibits and all evidentiary matters, witness lists, files and subpoenas; creates trial exhibits/notebooks; coordinates and attends witness prep meetings; assists at trial. Conducts online research and utilizes the firm's electronic resources efficiently and effectively. Creates trial and arbitration calendars based upon applicable state or federal law. Prepares page line summaries of depositions. Conducts and summarizes witness interviews. Prepares and implements litigation hold memorandum for clients and issues same to opposing counsel. Qualifications: Must have 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, labor and employment experience preferred. Knowledge of the Code of California Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Experience effectively managing multiple assignments and/or deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor. Attendance & Punctuality: Be consistently at work and on time; arrive at meetings and appointments on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Spanish speaking is a plus. Respond promptly to attorney and client requests for service and assistance; meet commitments. Follow instructions; complete tasks on time; commit to the hours necessary to complete assignments; work independently. Approach others in a tactful manner; treat others with respect; react well under pressure. Contribute to building a positive team spirit; support everyone's efforts to succeed. Strong PC/software skills; ability to use phone system, copier, scanner, printer; experience using eDiscovery/case management software (Relativity is a plus).
