Junior Paralegal Family Law Responsibilities: Keep client file up to date and organized at all times. Organize client file and exhibits, including electronic file and exhibits, for in person and virtual court appearances. Provide clients with regular case updates, including copies of filings or correspondence. Communicate with opposing party/counsel, client, court staff, and/or mediators to arrange hearing dates or mediations. Open communication with attorney when coordinating schedules or providing client updates. Assist in managing attorney's calendar and docket, including calendaring settings and statutory deadlines. Timely manage reminders. Manage the scheduling order for each case with the attorney to ensure all deadlines are met. Complete intakes for new client calls to obtain all necessary assignments. Draft, proof and edit correspondence to counsel and clients as assigned by attorney. Assist in posting and delivery. Assist with discovery, such as working with clients to collect and organize documents provided by client, bate stamping documents, organizing documents received by parties, etc. Assist Attorney in court, including virtually, on an as-needed basis. Willingness to perform other duties as assigned, such as assistance with witness prep for a trial or hearing for example. Qualifications: Associates degree, or equivalent paralegal or office management experience. Paralegal certification and at least three years of experience working as a paralegal with family law cases preferred. Litigation experience may be considered as a substitute. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, court personnel and co-workers. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience working with case management systems. Knowledge of general office skills, such as word processing, file maintenance, data entry, and business writing. Knowledge of copy machines and other general office equipment. Good telephone skills and clear speaking voice.Good grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills. Strong work ethic and demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem solving. Ability to work under deadlines. Ability to work with confidential client information. Appreciation of diversity and a sensitivity to people of varying lifestyles, ethnicity and religious groups. Dependable transportation.
