Appeals and Litigation Paralegal Duties: Supervise practice assistants in the completion of tasks; coordinate the completion of multiple projects and tasks at once, meet pressing deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment. Review medical records and prepare medical records chronologies; Review and produce effective, professional communication that demonstrates a clear purpose and intent. Preparing legal correspondence, pleadings, filings, and administrative appeals for attorney review; Schedule follow-up appointments and assist in the timely completion of all tasks. This includes using and maintaining a shared team calendar, preparing materials for experts, providing clients with regular updates, and ensuring client matters are resolved; Drafting/filing motions and pleadings in both State, Federal, and Appellate Courts; Organizing voluminous documents; Answering and drafting discovery and disclosure statements; Preparing deposition notices, as well as organizing, maintaining, and preparing deposition materials, exhibits and summaries; Assisting with mediation statements and the mediation process; Calendaring/docketing litigation deadlines; Communicating with clients about the litigation process in a compassionate and timely manner; Coordinating travel schedules and booking out-of-state depositions; Assisting with expert and lay witness interviews; Organizing and reviewing medical records; Conducting online research; Attending important court hearings and trials; and Performing other litigation-related tasks as needed. Will take ownership over projects and possess a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Multitasking and effective prioritization are critical. Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate/degree or degree in legal related studies with Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. 5+ years litigation or related experience. Excellent computer knowledge, which includes proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook and Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and court-filing portals (PACER, etc.). Experience in personal injury, complex litigation, insurance bad faith, medical malpractice, or ERISA a plus. Strong written and oral communication skills a must.
