Prelitigation Paralegal/Case Manager The candidate will open case files in CASEpeer. Send letters of representation to insurance companies with auto insurance and/or homeowner's insurance. Obtain insurance status (policy existance, number, and limits) on all cases. Request medical and billing records. Review records for additional providers notated. Review billing to verify appropriate insurance was billed. Request for the provider to bill insurance if necessary. Redact medical and billing records. Open claims with CMS and other lien holders. Assist in opening health insurance claims on behalf of clients and overseeing the process and handling related correspondence accordingly. Request traffic collision reports electronically, by mail, and in person from various law enforcement and governmental agencies. Review reports and add any additional data to CASEpeer such as adverse party contact information, insurance information, and witness information. Obtain defendant information via social media and online software. Communicate with clients via email, phone, and text, as needed regarding appointments and follow up on medical treatment. Obtain information from clients such as pictures, ID, and insurance cards. Refer clients to seek treatment with medical providers. Obtain wage loss information from clients. Send and review pain and suffering questionnaires. Provide support to the staff and Attorney in obtaining medical providers' balances, lien reductions and preparing breakdowns. Continually update the case management system (CASEpeer) with current information and detailed notes. Draft and send letters and provide overall support to paralegals and Attorneys. Review daily mail logs for case-related documents and update the client's file as necessary. On rare occasions, be willing to assist on the case-intake process in the evenings and weekends. Must have a High school diploma. Should have 1-2 years of legal experience. Being bilingual, and fluent in English/Spanish is a plus.
