Litigation Legal Secretary Duties: Perform a full range of legal secretary duties in the support of your assigned attorneys and the ongoing operation and management of their practice areas while gaining knowledge and experience in those practice areas. Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, orders, and subpoenas from verbal and written instructions, dictation, notes, rough drafts and other materials. Calendar, docket, and schedule hearings, motions, meetings, mediations, arbitrations with notice to interested parties. Proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax, and content. Review legal documents to ensure they are in proper format and contain all necessary portions or related documents for court acceptance; proficiently file legal documents with proper courts including various state courts and federal court (both electronic and manually). Qualifications: 5 years recent litigation experience as a Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary is preferred. Will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and maintain both a professional demeanor and positive attitude. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative team environment, enjoys mentoring less-experienced team members, has the ability to multi-task and prioritize while maintaining a sense of humor, and has excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional people skills and a positive attitude. Advanced organizational and planning skills. High level of diplomacy. Strong collaboration skills. Knowledge and familiarity of e-filing. Knowledge and familiarity of docketing in CompuLaw (or similar docketing software) preferred. Ability to establish and model standards that guarantee exceptional work quality. Highly adaptable. Proficient technology, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and Adobe skills. Knowledge and familiarity of federal and state court procedures, application of local rules, and docketing. Ability to follow complex instructions and collect and analyze information. Ability to maintain good humor and composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively and desire to communicate regularly.
