Family Law and Commercial Litigation Paralegal Duties: Maintain and manage attorney's calendar including case deadlines, discovery deadlines, mandatory disclosure deadlines, internal deadlines, client meetings, hearings, trials, trial deadlines, attorney conferences, mediations, potential client consultations, etc. Ascertain individual Judge procedures and rules, particularly for the Paralegals timely creation of and mailing of judge / opposing counsel packets in advance of hearings, as well as, filing deadlines for attorney notification. Use Westlaw to perform, organize, catalog and present findings of legal research within secondary sources, judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, legal codes and other pertinent material, etc. to attorney for review. File documents on attorney's behalf, primarily using the Florida e-filing system. Prepare, receive and respond to electronic and mail correspondence from the Court, Clients and other third parties. Answer Client calls and questions. Assist in trial, hearing, deposition, mediation and arbitration preparation including drafting witness lists, organizing exhibits, evidence, pleadings and documents, as well as, creation of trial/hearing binders/folders. Prepare briefs, demand letters, pleadings, motions, proposed orders, final judgments, appeals, agreements, retainer agreements, contracts, and legal memoranda. Draft discovery to be propounded and discovery responses. Perform research of public records, including county and federal dockets, administrative agency records, social media and internet records. Coordinate hearings, mediations, depositions, etc. with clients, opposing counsel and/or the Court. Review and field all incoming leads for lead viability prior to scheduling consultations with attorney. Assist the attorney in the courtroom/depositions/mediations by and through, including taking notes, producing exhibits and evidence for attorney presentation. Organize and analyze information for the creation of documentation including but not limited to deposition summaries, mediation summaries, discovery cataloging, etc. Coordinate law office activities with third party providers, such as subpoena delivery, subpoena acceptance, transcript orders, skip trace orders, etc. Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy, spelling and grammar. Contact clients and witnesses to investigate cases and keep clients apprised of the case's status. Attend to basic clerical tasks, such as photocopying, making and receiving phone calls, and field written and electronic correspondence. Build and maintain electronic and hardcopy databases and files. Organize and track case files. Qualifications: Extraordinarily strong general computer skills is an absolute must. Experience using Westlaw. Experience using Florida's efiling system. Extensive experience using Microsoft Suite and Adobe. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience using Client Management system, MyCase desired. Experience using Pacer an asset. Proficiency in writing and speaking one or more languages a plus. Licensed Notary ideal. Experience as a family law paralegal a desired.
