Immigration Paralegal The candidate will handle responsibilities include direct client communication in both Spanish and English on telephone, in person, and through email correspondence, preparation and management of legal documents, filing, calendar management, coordination and scheduling of client appointments, and handling of daily mail. Responsible for meeting tight deadlines. Completes any tasks as directed by attorneys and supervisor. Organize and maintain all correspondence and documents in firm document management system. Import electric documents into filing system. Create letters, legal documents and memos in Microsoft office and legal-based software. Create tables, graphs, format legal documents, translate English/Spanish documents. Pay close attention to detail when entering data into systems. Performs other duties as directed by supervisors. Set up phone systems at the beginning of the day. Listen to voicemail and return customer calls. Follow-up immediately on all calls. Forward calls when necessary. Call clients to confirm appointments the day before and day of meetings. Use professional language during phone calls. Be able to switch freely from legal English to legal Spanish on the phone. Use a kind tone on the phone and relay sense of urgency and care to the client. Check email on a regular basis throughout the day. Manage tasks through computer system and email. All written communication is written in a professional manner. Use email as a correspondence tool for internal communication and external communication. Professional legal written English and Spanish required. Schedule intakes for clients. Schedule meetings and consultations in calendar system. Translate when necessary during consultations. Translate English/Spanish documents on an as-needed basis. Translate during client interactions as needed for attorneys and staff. Must have High school diploma or its equivalent, AA / Paralegal Certificate or 4-year Degree preferred. Should have 1+ year of paralegal experience in immigration law. Previous professional experience working in a fast-pace immigration law firm a plus. High knowledge and skill working with computer legal software. Notary public a plus. Current driver s license required. Written legal English and Spanish required. Must be skilled in proofreading and grammar in both English and Spanish.
