Bilingual Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities: Maintaining client files in both paper and digital form. Assisting clients in preparing financial information statements, inventories and appraisements. Assist with the drafting and reviewing of pleadings, discovery, correspondence. Prepare for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials. Preparing internal memorandums in preparation of mediation, hearings, and trials. Maintaining calendars and addressing conflicts in a respectful and courteous manner. Communicating with clients and providing clients a minimum of two monthly status updates as instructed by the attorneys. Preparing and managing trial notebooks under the supervision of the attorneys. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts. Investigate complex facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes. Meet and calculate deadlines. Performing all aspects of discovery, including preparing discovery requests, discovery responses and organizing documents and obtaining information from clients and opposing parties. Sending ad receiving letters and faxes. Filing documents with the court (e-file and e-service). Assisting clients with discovery and paperwork. Researching District Clerk's website and pulling documents from online. Assisting attorneys with other case-related tasks as requested. Qualifications: The candidate must possess a client focused approach to work, be able to handle multiple assignments efficiently, work well under pressure, and have the flexibility to assist the attorney in meeting client demands on accelerated schedules. Must have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and operate with strong initiative to meet billable requirements. Family law experience. Excellent proofreading skills. Keen attention to detail. Professional oral and written communication skills. Excellent email and telephone responsiveness. Ability to hit the ground running. Demonstrated good judgment in making decisions. Familiarity with the Texas Family Code. Dependable; need to know the task will get done without constant follow-up. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines. Good telephone skills and clear speaking voice. Phenomenal people skills. Excellent organizational skills. Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc. Ability to use the latest technology, including MyCase, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, DropBox, etc. Knowledge of copy machines and other general office equipment. Positive outlook and willingness to take on tasks that need to be completed. Strong work ethic, demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem solving. Ability to work with confidential client information. Spanish fluency is required.
