Litigation Paralegal The candidate will manage a high volume of litigation files with multiple attorneys. The responsibilities include managing files from beginning to conclusion. Tasks may include e-discovery, redaction, reviewing and indexing documents, conducting online research, requesting and reviewing medical records through subpoenas, maintaining current medical chronologies, preparing written discovery and disclosure statements, preparing exhibits for trial/deposition/dispositive motions, completing deposition summaries, preparing state and federal court subpoenas, preparing the record for state and federal court appellate briefs, and preparing for trial, arbitrations, and mediations. Analyze, review and organize documents and data from materials produced during discovery; and prepare/coordinate document production and responses to discovery requests. Prepare deposition and record subpoenas according to state and federal regulations; coordinate production of third-party records and summarize; prepare deposition outlines and summaries. Analyze and review privileged documents. Review files for relevant medical information, prepare requests or subpoenas regarding same, and perform follow-up to ensure records are timely received and disclosed. Prepare medical chronologies for attorney review. Trial and arbitration preparation; preparation and management of trial exhibits and other trial related assistance. Conduct legal research. Liaison with courts and litigation vendors, including process servers and couriers. Keep abreast of developments, procedures and rules in the forums where the office practices. Demonstrate basic strategic thinking and initiative with case assignments. Should have 3-5 years of civil litigation experience. Strong interpersonal skills, detail orientated with exceptional analytical skills are essential. Reliability, teamwork, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines are essential. Proficiency in Windows environment including Word, Outlook and Excel. Must be proactive with strong organizational skills. Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedures. Results oriented and excellent time management skills are needed Creative problem-solving skills are essential. Should have the ability to interact professionally with attorneys and support staff while maintaining a strong client service attitude. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Work independently and as part of a team towards common goal of excellent client service. Strong sense of confidentiality and ability to exercise sound judgment is needed.
