Summary H1: Litigation Paralegal Position at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a national law firm, is currently seeking a full-time Litigation Paralegal for its Milwaukee office. This position offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package. H2: Duties and Responsibilities The Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for: Reviewing and managing case files Obtaining necessary authorizations for medical records Identifying healthcare providers from whom to obtain pertinent records Collecting, organizing, safeguarding, and electronically storing medical records and imaging Preparing initial discovery such as interrogatories, request for production, and request for admissions Vetting and engaging with subject matter experts Obtaining medical literature Journaling deadlines for responses and monitoring for timeliness Preparing legal documents such as briefs and pleadings Preparing case and medical chronologies, agreements, deposition summaries/abstracts, and trial and/or mediation binders Investigating facts as requested by attorneys Ensuring proper indexing and filing of original legal documents Preparing trial exhibits Scheduling and preparing expert and lay witnesses for trial Attending trial as necessary H2: Qualifications and Prior Experience Bachelor's degree is preferred; additionally, five (5) or more years of litigation experience is required Experience with trial preparation and participation/attendance, including organization of witness materials and preparation of physical and electronic exhibits Knowledge in a variety of areas including complex litigation, personal injury, products liability, labor and employment, medical malpractice and general liability Working knowledge of internet, Excel, and Microsoft Word software Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner Ability to take independent actions and calculated risks Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to act as a case manager, moving the case along, anticipating next steps, and proactively discussing same with attorneys Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and requires all employees whose work requires them to be in the office to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
