This large, rapidly growing, full-service law firm is making big strides in the global realm of telecommunications, e-commerce and dot coms in addition to having a very notable practice in international commerce, corporate and contract litigation. It is located in the Pacific Northwest with branches in the West and in Washington DC. Bankruptcy Paralegal The candidate will draft Motions for Relief, Responses, Proof of Claims, Fee Applications, demand letters, basic bankruptcy and adversary proceeding pleadings, including notices of appearance, civil information sheets, requests for special notice, declarations, orders, etc.; prepare template/shell legal documents; compile and prepare exhibits; prepare for hearings and creditor meetings; hearing resolutions; prepare and file of UCC-1 and UCC-3 filing statements; research (statutes, procedural rules, land searches and Secretary of State websites); review and follow local court rules and complex case procedures; verbal and written communication with clients and external parties such as co-counsel, court clerks, trustees, and opposing counsel; and prepare attorney notebooks; electronic filing of documents with bankruptcy court; review Court docket (PACER) and monitor ECF emails for important filings. Monitor large-scale bankruptcy dockets, client claim status and associated deadlines; retrieve and send substantive pleadings to clients and attorneys; and maintain electronic bankruptcy case and client files. Submit requests for conflicts reports for bankruptcy matters; initial review and summary of large conflicts reports; and prepare exhibits for disclosures as required in certain bankruptcy matters. Keyboard correspondence and simple to complex legal documents and forms, handwritten drafts, or notes; apply track changes, formatting, and styles; proofread, format, edit, label and redact documents; and compare documents using document comparison software and produce redline comparison. Enter, proofread, and close your time entries in billing software; comply with firm and client time entry standards; review and edit your time and cost entries on proformas (pre-bills). Work collaboratively with case team, other paralegals and practice assistants; delegate and coordinate projects with support departments; assist with questions related to bankruptcy procedure; and participate in regular case team and department meetings. Keep personally identifiable information, personal health information, and attorney/client privileged information confidential; prioritize daily responsibilities and special projects and readjust as priorities change; coordinate resources to meet deadlines; perform multiple tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment; maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times; be a constant-learner, flexible, proactive, efficient and resourceful; take initiative and follow through; solve problems; work independently and in an interactive team environment; have prompt, regular, and predictable attendance; have strong organizational, grammar, and proofreading skills; pay attention to detail; have outstanding interpersonal and client service skills; have clear, effective, and professional verbal and written communication skills; comply with all firm policies and ethics requirements; and be proficient and fluent in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English. Accurately type 60+ wpm is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat is required. Court filing experience with Cm/ECF and Pacer is required. Experience with law firm software, such as iManage, Chrome River, Carpe Diem, Paperless Proforma, Intapp, Meeting Room Manager, Box, Workshare Compare, Metadata Assistant, and InterAction is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree is preferred. Certificate or Associate s degree from an ABA-accredited paralegal program in lieu of one year of work experience. Should have 5+ years of experience providing legal assistant or paralegal support in the area of bankruptcy law. Knowledge of Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure is required. Experience with debtor and creditor filings chapter 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings is highly preferred. Experience with adversarial proceedings is preferred.
