Paralegal Assistant Duties: Update and organize client records (physical and electronic); Draft simple reporting correspondence to client and forward to paralegals for review; Draft simple U.S. patent prosecution documents for paralegal or attorney review and comments; Perform computer database input and retrieval. Begin training on USPTO rules and procedures as they relate to patent prosecution; Organize documents or reports for in-house and/or outside distribution; Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines; and Conduct on-line searches for U.S. and international patents and publications. Qualifications: A high school diploma and 1+ year of related experience in an administrative support role, or equivalent. AA or BA degree preferred. Paralegal Certificate a plus. Paralegal Assistant or legal support experience strongly preferred. Practice group-specific experience preferred. Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills for prioritizing workload. Ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel with professionalism and tact. Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple assignments. Ability to apply good judgment and discretion to a variety of situations. Strong communication skills and the ability to express yourself effectively, both orally and in writing.
