Trust and Estates Paralegal Responsibilities: Maintaining checkbook and banking records; paying bills, and computing and disbursing beneficiary distributions; computing and payment of executor and trustee commissions. Preparation of formal and informal estate and trust accountings/ Marshaling assets and arranging for valuation as necessary. Reading and interpreting Wills and trust instruments. Prepare and file all documents required to probate wills; prepare receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits, and accounting petitions; handle issuance and revocation of letters and other miscellaneous proceedings, including preparation of petitions and overseeing service on interested parties. Establish and maintain paper and electronic files according to current firm policies utilizing the firm's record protocol procedures and document management system. Manage departmental trackers. Qualifications: Licensed as a New York Notary Public. 3+ years of experience as a Trusts and Estates Paralegal. Knowledge of Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorney forms, estate funding correspondence, memoranda, agreements, and practice-specific documents with the ability to revise, format, and finalize these documents. E-filing experience in New York State Court and multiple jurisdictions. Excellent verbal, and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of Surrogate's Court rules and procedures (e.g., probate, administration, accounting proceedings). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work within a fast-paced environment. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365- including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams; Worldox, Nuance, Adobe, Zoom, and other videoconferencing applications Works effectively with various types of clients. Well-organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and reliable. The ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
