Legal Secretary Responsibilities: Type, format, edit and finalize documents, including correspondence, charts, motions, briefs, pleadings, memoranda, etc., using a PC with a word processing package and other Firm software. Organization of court filings, clerical functions and work flow. Input attorney daily time through Time Billing System and consolidate and edit time to ensure accuracy of input. Coordinate travel arrangements, including air, hotel and car plans for attorneys and clients as well as maintain travel expenses. Proofread all documents, correspondence, etc. to ensure accuracy of copy, grammar, punctuation, and syntax. Receive, screen and transmit telephone calls, conference calls, and messages to attorneys, clients, and staff. Process incoming and outgoing deliveries and distribute promptly upon receipt. Coordinate conferences, meetings, and appointments for attorneys and clients including conference room scheduling and service of food. Coordinate legal work through word processing, editing, communications and messenger services for the prompt production and delivery of documents. Obtain cases from the library and make copies of the case(s) if necessary. Perform a variety of secretarial functions including processing new client/matter reports, expense reports, preparing notebooks and exhibits, transcribing and revising tapes, etc Perform other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates. Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalency. PC experience. Microsoft Word and Excel experience. Thorough knowledge of legal terminology and formats preferred. Ability to accept responsibility and take initiative. The ability to work independently. Good organization skills for prioritizing workload. Good proofreading skills. Preferred: 5+ years' prior experience as a Legal Secretary. Experience in a litigation and/or corporate (transactional) practice group is highly preferred. Ability to accurately type 50-60 wpm. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail. The use of good judgment and good interpersonal communication skills. Well developed analytical and problem solving skills. Works harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team. A self-starter who desires to show ownership and commitment to the job. Exercises confidentiality and discretion. Schedule: 4:30 pm - 12 am
