Paralegal The candidate will conduct research to support legal proceedings. Will assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents. Investigate facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes. Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Record and store client information. Assist in planning and managing the work activities of legal support staff to maximize office output and efficiency. Participate in employment interviews with applicants to hire new legal support staff for the assigned department. Develop policies, procedures, programs and staffing levels to provide for the effective operation of the department's support unit. Manage the purchasing of office supplies and equipment to ensure needed work products are available. Assist with completing employee performance evaluations. Manage schedules, including trial dates and hearings. Coordinate meetings, teleconference, WebEX meetings and video conferences. Assess the urgency of situations and determine appropriate actions, monitor status of pending item, provide follow up and keep management informed by communicating a wide variety of information. Train attorneys and support staff in the use of all office systems, including case management system, filing protocols, and docket/diary procedures. Vendor management. The candidate should have previous experience as a paralegal. Must have previous experience in office administration; specifically in a law office. Ability to exercise initiative, ingenuity and good judgment in decision-making and in solving problems, including problems of a sensitive or political nature is required. Ability to understand and maintain the confidential nature of the work done in the legal department, including personnel related matters is needed. Must have ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
