Legal Secretary - Finance and Restructuring The candidate will prepare agenda and meet regularly with designated attorneys to coordinate, schedule, and follow through on projects and action items. Prepare and submit conflicts check forms and new matter request forms; prepare engagement letters for new clients; calendar hearings and deadlines. Collect information from attorneys in order to prepare voluntary petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, master creditor lists, and numerous commencement pleadings for attorney and client signature. Analyze documents filed by debtors and make note of items of follow-up needed by the Bankruptcy Trustee. Format client information spreadsheets to prepare for importing into the bankruptcy program. Maintain electronic and physical files; build and manage client case list. Generate and finalize Table of Contents and Table of Authorities and draft template pleadings. Electronically file bankruptcy documents and various ongoing pleadings via the Electronic Court Filing System. Prepare and keep up to date government agency lists and client service lists. Compose correspondence to clients and courts; compose internal and external memoranda. Draft State and Federal Court forms for filings. Organize, file and handle documents, exhibits and trial binders. Prepare discovery, request for production of documents, interrogatories; subpoenas and request for admissions; bate stamping. Prepare and submit expense reports; assist with attorney travel arrangements. Prepare files for closing and storage. Assist with special projects and collaborate as a team member with other support staff in performing any duties essential to the achievement of efficient operations. The candidate must have High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Should have 5 years of law firm experience as a secretary or high-level administrative assistant in the Bankruptcy or litigation practice groups. Knowledge of Federal and State Court procedures and rules, State and Federal e-filing experience is required. Experience with calendaring hearings and deadlines is needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word 2016 and Excel 2016; Adobe Acrobat; NetDocuments is must. Accurate typing skills of at least 50 wpm is essential.
