Part-Time Family Law Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for helping with tasks throughout the litigation process, from beginning to end as well as some administrative tasks to help ensure the firm runs smoothly. Conduct practical and legal research and initial case assessments. Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, supported by research and logical, strong arguments. Perform administrative duties, such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organize case files, use case management, monitor cases and track cases internally against court dockets. Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes. Prioritize work and maintain files in an organized manner. Prepare and organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices for court hearings. Aid attorney(s) with interrogatories and other discovery requests to and from the parties. Gather relevant information from a variety of sources. Liaise between internal/external third parties. Provide assistance with case settlements. Ensure all incoming documents are organized in file management system. Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification is preferred. Should be able to effectively communicate with clients and others to obtain useful and valuable information, legal research, document filing, and have excellent research, analytic, and writing skills. Should be familiar with technology and tools that firms typically use. Should have the ability to manage up, to be proactive, will take ownership and be accountable for the follow through of their work, and finally it is important that you can execute within deadlines. Proven experience in helping with dozens of cases in family law is needed. Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc is required. Should be highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail is needed. Should be proficient with technology.
