Legal Assistant / Paralegal The candidate will interview prospective clients, compile and summarize information. Will prepare some court documents and pleadings (including Original Petitions, SAPCR, Discovery Request and Responses, MSJ, etc.). Organize and prepare cases for court appearance - including witness interviews, subpoena of records, etc. Discuss issues of case with client based on Attorney direction. Assist aAttorney in court as needed. Utilize MyCase client management system. Perform other duties as assigned.
The candidate must have 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant. Knowledge of or familiarity with family law pleadings, (SAPCR, Divorce, etc.) is needed. Should have knowledge of civil litigation process and activities - from intake to case closure. Knowledge of MyCase or similar Practice Management tool essential. Knowledge of general office skills including MS Word, Excel, file maintenance, data entry, business writing needed. Good telephone skills, grammar, punctuation and spelling skills are a must. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English preferred.
