Intellectual Property Paralegal Responsibilities : The candidate should manage maintenance and growth of IP portfolio, manage internal IP processes, and cooperate with outside counsel. Will also provide project management and special projects involvement supporting a variety of Yee & Associates departments. Holds individual responsibility for the specific assignment area, and must have a high level of independence. Will be expected to utilize good judgment and proactive problem solving in order to provide outstanding service to the company. Assisting attorneys with preparation and prosecution of patent applications for large and small clients. Facilitate invention disclosure meetings and other steps to facilitate the patent preparation and prosecution process, and coordinate with outside counsel for patent prosecution. Proofreading drafts of patent applications is a large part of the position. Assist as needed with various tasks relating to operations, including IP budgeting, accruals and tracking / forecasting, and reporting on key metrics. Assist as needed with all IP area tasks, including open source compliance, copyright issues, and trademark searches and docketing functions. May assist with additional non-IP legal issues. Some overtime required as needed, ability and willingness to provide backup support, and flexibility to support multiple projects at once required. Requirements : The candidate should have Paralegal Certificate or bachelor's or higher degree. Should have 3-5 years of patent prosecution experience in legal work within high growth, fast paced environment such as a technology company or law firm. Experience with patent prosecution and maintenance in countries throughout the world. Knowledgeable. Familiar with the intricacies of the IP asset management process. Must be detail-oriented. Should manage Excellent project management and organizational skills. Able to identify and track multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Should have ability to make decisions independently. Interest in owning projects or responsibilities without continual oversight. Must be interested in and able to learn, implement and manage new technologies and processes. Proficient with MS Office Suite Word, Excel, Power Point.
