Paralegal Responsibilities : Utilizes knowledge of complex litigation, medical malpractice, construction, products liability, employment discrimination, and professional negligence claims, assists attorneys with trial preparation, summation and other legal documents necessary to prepare for assigned cases or claims. Continually reviews and manages case files. Secures all medical records, employment records, social media materials, tax returns etc.; maintains logs and ensures proper electronic and physical organization of same. Records journal deadlines for responses and monitors for timeliness. Prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings chronologies, agreements, deposition binders, mediation binders and trial binders for use by attorneys; assists attorneys with all aspects of trial preparation and trial. Assists with e-filing in both State and Federal Court system. Prepares initial discovery, i.e. interrogatories, request for production, request for admissions. Prepares draft responses to discovery. Schedules and coordinates all expert discovery including setting depositions of experts and production of their files and investigation as to opposing experts and co-defendant experts. Prepares deposition summaries. Locates expert witnesses including physicians, accident reconstruction, engineers etc. and handles coordination of necessary file materials and documents for review. Provides proper indexing and filing of legal documents and records. Investigates facts as requested by attorneys.
Requirements : The candidate should have 5+ years of experience handling complex medical negligence, catastrophic losses, professional negligence and product liability matters, e-filing experience and litigation procedural knowledge of State and Federal Courts, strong communication and customer service skills, and strong working knowledge of internet software, document management systems and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
