Litigation Paralegal The candidate will do continual review and management of case files. Obtain necessary authorizations for medical records (requires knowledge regarding HIPAA and BASA regulations. Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, chronologies, agreements, deposition summaries/abstracts and trial and/or mediation binders for use by attorneys. Investigate facts as requested by attorneys. Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents. Prepare trial exhibits. Schedule and prepare expert lay witnesses for trial. Attend trial, as necessary. The candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor? A A?s Degree is preferred. Should have 5+ years of defense litigation experience is required. Only applicants with this experience will be considered. Experience in personal injury, property damage and medical malpractice preferred. Experience with trial preparation and participation/attendance, including organization of witness materials and preparation of physical and electronic exhibits. Knowledge of complex litigation (i.e. medical malpractice, construction, products liability). Working knowledge of the rules and procedures in both State and Federal Court systems (including experience in eFiling). Working knowledge of internet Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Create stock certificates and transfer powers and maintain stock certificate ledgers. Set up client databases in accordance with firm guidelines and manage and upload files. Draft audit letter responses and updates in compliance with firm guidelines. Provide written and verbal communication with attorneys and clients in a timely manner. Delegate effectively and as appropriate to Legal Administrative Assistants. Act as a liaison among various internal departments as well as with outside agencies and corporate service company vendors.
