Nurse/Medical Paralegal The candidate will review and analyze the medical records for the complex personal injury cases. Will create one set of records for each medical provider, with the purpose of preparing documents for litigation. Combine, format, bates-stamp and index all electronic medical records in detail. Create a detailed medical chronology regarding the medical care received by the clients, that can be used for litigation. Analyze the facts of the case as presented in the medical records in order to determine liability, causation and damages. Identify medical conditions that may cause long-term disability and their relation to the legal case. Analyze all prior medical records in order to assess their impact on the current case. Explain complex medical information within the medical chronology in order to inform and educate the attorneys. Work with the attorneys to provide medical literature to bolster the cases. Write a medical summary of what was found in the medical records in order to aid the attorneys during the mediation/settlement process. Identify what records we have and what specific records are missing. A running list is kept of all missing medical records and provided to the attorneys and paralegals. Perform other duties as assigned. Should have a High School Diploma. Previous personal injury experience is preferred. Strong attention to detail and organization skills essential. Interface with clients in person, over the phone, and via email. Law Firm experience is preferred. Strong knowledge in the following areas is preferred: PERM labor certification process and recruitment and Eb-2 and EB-3 petitions; L-1 visa applications for individual and blanket applications; H-1B and Labor Condition Applications and compliance; and TN, O-1 visa and EB-1 permanent residence applications. Should have Bachelor's degree or Associate of Arts degree and not less than one year of in-house training as a Paralegal Assistant or Paralegal Intern, or 1-5 years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney or Senior Paralegal, demonstrating a superior command of the skills necessary to be a Paralegal; and , in addition to (a) or (b), Completion of an educational program for Paralegals that has been approved by the American Bar Association ("ABA") or offered by an accredited institution which is in substantial compliance with ABA guidelines for the approval of Paralegal programs is preferred.
