Foreign Filing Paralegal Assistant Duties: Under general supervision, the Foreign Filing Paralegal Assistant provides prosecution and client management support to the foreign filing paralegal group. Provide assistance to foreign filing paralegals with respect to all foreign patent processes. Assist with tracking the status of all country-specific requirements and their respective deadlines (e.g., formal documents, translations, certified priority documents, etc.), send to clients for signature, provide necessary follow-up and transmit to foreign associates. Request convention and national phase instructions from client, open new matters accordingly. Prepare correspondence to clients regarding filing of new Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and foreign patent applications. Collaborate with the US Paralegal Assistant to complete larger-scale projects, as needed. Assist with transfer-in and transfer-out procedure: contact foreign associates regarding transfer of cases and prepare and track status of all formal documents. Works proactively with others to support efforts within the department to improve efficiency and add value. Organizes and prioritizes assignments and contributes to the departments ability to meet or exceed goals and standards. Maintains strong understanding of PCT laws and procedures, and country-specific rules of practice. Uses innovative thinking and exercises sound judgment. Qualifications: Patent support experience is preferred. 1+ year of working in an administrative capacity in a professional office setting. Experience can be from internships or part time work while in school. Demonstrated ability to learn new technology, processes and procedures effectively and with confidence. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce work quickly. Proven ability to manage a wide variety of simple and complex administrative duties. Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines. Exceptional communication (both written and verbal) skills. Demonstrated commitment to providing superior client service. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is essential.
