Toxic Tort Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for supporting litigators that have a high volume of work. Assist and provide a wide range of legal support to the supervising attorney. Maintain files, conduct legal research, draft documents, communicate with clients and other parties involved in the cases, etc. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and articles. Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and in the firm's document management software. Gather, maintain current and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Write reports to help attorneys prepare for trial. Obtain affidavits and other formal documents/statements that may be used as evidence in court. Assist lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents (after a lawyer has reviewed and approved) with the court or opposing counsel. Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions. The candidate should have 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal. Experience in toxic tort or asbestos would be ideal. Must have strong Excel skills, be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure, and have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, E-filing knowledge in preparation to file all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, and motions. Must have knowledge of legal documents and terminology, knowledge of billing, and knowledge of investigating the facts of a case.
