This position is 100% in-office and offers competitive pay and benefits. # Job Summary The is a small litigation firm in Washington D.C. specializing in Labor and Employment Law, Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury, and Criminal Law. They are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join their close-knit team and provide administrative, legal research, and other support to the firm's attorneys. # Primary Duties and Responsibilities - Perform a variety of administrative tasks including greeting visitors, answering phones, copying, scanning, faxing, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. - Maintain reception and common areas. - Maintain inventory of office supplies - Conduct preliminary client intake, conflict checks and open, maintain and close client files. - Calendaring and docketing litigation deadlines. - Assist attorneys with scheduling interviews, hearings, meetings, and depositions. - Conduct legal research. - Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other third parties at the direction of the attorneys. - Prepare various legal documents, including routine pleadings, briefs, appeals and other litigation related documents including, but not limited to, petitions, complaints, answers, interrogatories, appendices, and exhibits under attorney supervision. - Create binders and other presentation materials. - Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic filing systems in accordance with the firm's procedures and standards. - Updating the firm's website and other marketing materials. - Managing the firm's online presence. - Other duties as requested by the firm's attorneys, law clerks, and paralegals. # Education and Experience - High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred. - A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association. - A minimum of one year of law related experience. - Ideal candidate will have experience in web design or marketing. - Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw - Experience with e-filing documents # Key Job Skills and Competencies - Positive, helpful, customer service-oriented attitude is essential. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe required. - Strong administrative and organizational skills required. - Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail. - Ability to multitask effectively, occasionally work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and demands is essential. - Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. - The ideal candidate will be able to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information and work effectively as part of a team. # Pay and Benefits The Law Firm offers competitive pay and benefits including paid time off, health insurance (including dental and vision), 401K plan. This position is 100% in-office. The salary for this position is from $45,000 a year.
