They also has a very good and comprehensive orientation for new attorneys which lasts several months. This firm also maintains one of the better law libraries of any firm in the Pacific Northwest. Legal Secretary - Float The candidate prepares draft correspondence and pleadings. Answers incoming telephone calls and determines what assistance is needed. Manages docket and calendar management. Enrolls attorneys for CLE seminars. Arranges client meetings and calls and manages attorneys calendars.Proofreads, edits and redlines documents. Opens new client matters. Coordinates and disperses daily mail. Makes travel arrangements. Organizes files. Books conference rooms for meetings. Schedules depositions and logistics management, including booking court reporters, booking conference rooms, travel arrangements as necessary, and transcript ordering. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned . Must have 5+ years of secretarial experience with three years of recent litigation experience. Legal or professional services organization experience is preferred. Paralegal certificate is helpful. Must have broad computer knowledge, skills, and proficiency with Windows Operating System, Word Processing, Spreadsheets (Excel), Presentations (Power Point), Internet (IE, Chrome, FireFox), and other compatible and related software. Must have legal terminology and government regulations knowledge. Thorough knowledge and familiarity with common litigation procedures, terms, and protocol (i.e. motions practice, subpoenas, discovery documents, rules, and court filings) is essential. Must have experience assisting attorneys in a variety of practice groups, including Litigation, Business, Health Care, Investment Management, Municipal/Public Finance and Real Estate/Land Use.
