Workers' Compensation Paralegal The candidate will be responsible to speak with client to open initial file and prepare case opening memorandum. Legal writing, including petitions, findings, memos, briefs and appeals, supersedeas or motions, etc., and correspondence. Handle health insurer and DPW subrogations and liens. Oversee ordering of medical, employment and insurance company records by legal assistants. Tracks and follows up on requests for information and discovery process. Analyzes case matters and notes all material that may have an adverse effect on the client and/or case. Conducts legal research; develops knowledge of Work Compensation laws as well as medical conditions, treatments and procedures. The candidate must preferably have 5 years paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. 2 years experience in working in Workers' Compensation area is a big plus. Paralegal degree/certificate is preferred. Bachelor's degree in related field is beneficial. Must be a fast-learning, proactive, take ownership of their work, and have excellent communication skills. Must exhibit behavior consistent with ESA's core values of excellence, honesty & integrity, trust & fairness, client-centered, empathy and professionalism. Knowledge of the Workers' Compensation legal process, medical legal billing and coordination of benefits is required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with internal and external clients are needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy and team-oriented environment is essential. Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and within tight deadlines is critical. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; resolves issues, manages conflict and solve problems is must.
