Associate Attorney, Tax/Corporate Law Responsibilities: Help individuals and businesses (of all sizes) with various federal, state, local and foreign tax-related issues, income, estate, excise, property and gift tax. will put together documents on tax liabilities based on past and future transactions. will create tax plans and counsel on preparations involved in tax matters. Investigating legal cases for a specific area of business law. Conceptualize probable legal issues and comprehend the effect of rules, regulations and case law. Help clients with issues associated with the revenue authorities by negotiating for and on the client s behalf. Interpret the information provided by the client and devise strategies to solve existing financial matter and anticipate issues that may arise. Cultivate effective relationship within and outside the firm, especially with various taxing and legal authorities. Handle evaluation, risk assessment and counseling on various complicated tax matters. Counsel the client on the consequences of new and updated federal and state tax laws that affect the client s business. Maintain the tax records and keep up with all filing deadlines related to taxes for the client. IRS Audits & Appeals. Tax Court representation. Perform legal services including: legal research, drafting motions, orders, court decision and status updates to the lead attorney. Structure and negotiate business transactions. Assist the lead attorney in court during motions, hearings and occasionally during trials. Occasionally, prospect for new clients through marketing, networking, writing articles and speaking engagements. Requirements: Law degree from an accredited law school and be licensed in California state. 3+ years in firm practices- Corporate, Civil, Tax, Bankruptcy, Estate Planning & Real Estate. Experience in corporate law, estate planning and Real Estate. Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office.Outstanding communication skills. Familiarity with cloud-based software. Experience with the following software programs a plus: ProSeries, Canopy Tax, Lacerta, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, Lexis Nexis. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Must have detailed knowledge of tax laws coupled with strong communication skills and negotiation tactics. Candidate must be able to
