Legal Secretary The candidate will drafting and typing various types of documents, including correspondence, pleadings, memoranda and other such documents specific to the litigation practice area. Proofreading and redlining work for accuracy, format, grammar, and punctuation. Prepare e-filings and court pleadings in federal and local courts. Must know court rules, procedures and calendaring requirements. Schedules/calendars appointments such as depositions, document productions, client meetings, trials, court hearings and appearances; coordinate travel arrangements as necessary. Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Perform secretarial functions associated with firm administrative tasks, including processing new client/matter requests, client bills, time reports and expense reports. Inputs attorney and other timekeepers time; reviews for accuracy and corrects errors. Performs any other administrative tasks as may be assigned. Must have ability to type at least 75 words per minute with accuracy. Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation are essential. Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions are essential. Strong organizational skills are essential. Ability to perform clerical tasks with a high degree of accuracy are essential. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through completion are essential. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and respond to changing priorities are required. Ability to work irregular hours as needed is a must. High School Diploma or equivalent are essential. Must have 5 years of legal secretarial experience required. Specialized secretarial degree, associate and/or bachelor's degree desirable. Should have experience in one or more of the following areas of law: commercial litigation, product liability and personal injury defense.
