Paralegal The candidate will be assigned to specific matters, clients, projects, and/or attorneys. Be a member of the Real Estate team and will work in the Richmond office. Report to the Office Administrator. There is an annual billing component to this role. Research, draft, investigate, analyze and summarize facts and factual issues relevant to real estate transactions. Conduct title and survey review and analysis. Take appropriate action to monitor and meet deadlines. Establish priorities and work concurrently on a variety of projects. Demonstrate good teamwork skills within and among practice groups, offices, and firms to facilitate efficient delivery of legal services. Participate in the training and professional development of other paralegals in routine practice elements. Maintain the firm's official file utilizing the document management system. Track and record client-billable time as required meeting minimum billable hour requirements. Responsible for maintaining and prioritizing work on a daily basis and communicating if unable to meet daily responsibilities. Daily tracking and recording of both billable and nonbillable work. Prepare real estate transaction documents including due diligence and closing agendas. Review and analyze title and survey documents, write reports/summaries for attorney review and work directly with the title office and surveyor to address title and survey issues. Organize and manage transaction files and deadlines to ensure on-time closings. Prepare transaction authorizing resolutions and basic lease abstracts. Prepare real property valuation calculations for property value tax appeals. Coordinate closing requirements and documentation with local counties. File and record documents for specified jurisdictions. Review settlement statements. Perform paralegal duties and responsibilities as directed by the group leader and other attorneys in the assigned substantive practice group. Perform all assignments in strict compliance with ethical guidelines governing the practice of law. Receive and follow complex instructions. Use initiative in accomplishing routine assignments with minimum supervision. The candidate must have a Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Must have 5+ years of experience as a Real Estate Finance paralegal. Being a Notary Public is a plus. Must have experience with database files management systems such as iManage and a records management system. Should have the ability to use sound judgment and good discretion and be detail-oriented. Should have the ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external clients effectively and professionally and the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Should demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop skills. Should have the willingness and ability to accept changing assignments and priorities. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word) and have excellent grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills.
