Paralegal/Legal Assistant Duties: Assist attorneys by preparing documents such as legal correspondence, pleadings, as well as organizing and maintaining files. Will also be asked to file pleadings with courts and help prepare for trials by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as required. Receive and transcribe legal dictation of status reports, conference summaries, settlement disbursement reports, etc. Proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax, and content. Maintain file logs and other information in connection with the work under the assigned Attorney. Prepare Trial Conference Statements, settlement documents, Trial Exhibits in advance of hearings and depositions. File Pleadings (DOR, Petitions, etc.) via EAMS. Prepare Notices for Depositions, QME/AME Appointments, Hearings, etc. Prepare Advocacy letters and Records for QME/AME Appointments. Respond and Redact Information for Subpoenas. Set Transportation, Interpreter as needed for the Applicant for Deposition or Medical Appointments. Operate standard office equipment such as copy machines, scanners, etc. Receive and Place phone calls. Accurately document and bill for work and tsks according to billing procedures.
Qualifications: 2-3 years' paralegal experience. Skilled typing ability (65+ wpm), as well as strong writing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills. Dependable with a respect to confidentiality and policies. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Able to multitask. Great attention to detail and analytic skills. Must be comfortable with taking multiple calls and transferring calls. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe, Dropbox, and other shared cloud storage. Ability to interact effectively with the public, clients, and employees. Work independently in the absence of specific instruction. Knowledge of MerusCase is a plus.
