Senior Manager, Paralegal and Docketing Services The candidate will manage and oversee litigation docketing staff and all aspects of litigation docketing function within the firm. Manage profitability of paralegal program in accordance with firm guidelines and targets. Maintain paralegal program including recruitment, onboarding, training, education, and career development. Develop an appropriate overall structure for the paralegal program that provides growth and oversight for paralegals and project assistants. Work with Practice Group Leaders to insure appropriate levels of support for their groups and matters. Manage workflow for and between paralegals including allocating resources, delegating and coordinating ad hoc assignments, monitoring productivity, use of outside temporary resources, and making recommendations for and implementing productivity and process improvement. Analyze utilization reports, identifying areas of underutilization and assessing cause; makes recommendations for ways to improve utilization and work flow distribution. Administrative tasks associated with managing the paralegal and docketing program. Complete other duties as assigned. The candidate should have a BA/BS from an accredited college or university and 7 years of experience with practice support operations and four years of experience in managing practice support operations and staff. Recognize problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent; evaluate alternatives and find solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach; develop improvements and innovations to enhance performance. Understand how and when to make a choice; how and when to escalate issues to higher levels; analyze the risks and future impact of decisions; make decisions and take timely independent action in pursuit of priorities. Excellence in both written and oral communications whether in person, on the phone, or by email; ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines; able to organize self and work environment for efficiency and ready access to critical information. Identify areas for improvement within personal areas of responsibility, group, department and firm; develop unique and new approaches to address existing challenges and/or positively affect lawyer productivity, client service, and overall fiscal health of the firm. Ability to hire, develop and retain a high-quality workforce whether directly employed by the firm or outsourced; ability to inspire others by creating a vision and gaining buy-in from those important to achieving strategic and operational goals.
