Plaintiff's Personal Injury Paralegal The candidate will be working independently while assisting the Associate Attorney. Will answer phones, keep the books, manage payroll and assist with overflow light typing and filing, the PI paralegal position. Work with one partner and one associate who handle all of the PI caseload. Will be initial screening of new client intake calls is needed. Preparing new client packets. Participating in the new client interviews. Helping make judgement calls and providing discretionary input into the decision of whether we will accept any new representation. Drafting Rep Letters, LOP's, Lien verification requests. Ordering medical records, billing records, and if the case ends up in litigation, ordering them again in admissible form, i.e. business records affidavits for the medical records, billing affidavits for the medical billing records. Drafting demand letters to insurance adjusters. Communicating with insurance adjusters regarding settlement negotiations, status of settlement offers and demands, follow up communications regarding additional documentation request, and keeping the partner/associate in charge in the loop of all settlement discussions. Drafting initial pleadings, discovery requests and written discovery responses and responses to request for disclosures. e-filing in state and federal courts in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Maintaining the files electronically and physically in a manner that can become our exhibit list, witness list and expert witness list for trial. Communicating with your counterpart paralegal on the defense side of each case to schedule inspections, discovery responses, depositions, mediation and exchanging trial materials in pre-trial. Preparing for and attending trial. Communicating and negotiating lien reductions, and LOP reductions when necessary to settle cases, preparation of settlement disbursement packages. Obtaining signatures on releases and compromise settlement agreements. Keeping clients informed of the progress and status of the cases and assisting in the communication efforts with client and the attorneys. Should have 2+ years of experience. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
