Paralegal Manager The candidate will oversee the paralegal review process, manage the hiring of contract attorneys firm-wide and train and develop paralegal staff. Will be responsible for managing the annual performance process for paralegals; including performance evaluations, meeting with paralegal evaluators, and identifying performance issues. Performing in depth paralegal compensation reviews including gathering and analyzing market data, proposing revised paralegal compensation scales and conducting annual salary planning. Collaborating with firm leadership to identify paralegal and contract attorney staffing needs. Making recommendations to firm leadership on how to better utilize paralegal talent. Coordinating paralegal coverage needs; finding paralegal resources within the firm to handle extra projects. Collaborating with Senior Director of the Department to provide strategic guidance on internal change management initiatives. Creating and maintaining a sense of community among paralegals through regular group meetings, communication and social activities. The candidate should have a Bachelors degree in related field or education/experience equivalent required. A minimum of 5 years law firm experience and 3-5 years of progressive management experience in a law large firm or similar. Experience using Microsoft Office applications; exposure to document management and accounting/billing/timekeeping systems. Ability to effectively supervise paralegal staff. Ability to think strategically, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to make persuasive arguments to move toward a common goal. Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment and the aptitude for effective and creative problem solving. Ability to manage high volume and efficiently prioritize competing demands.
