Toxic Tort Paralegal Duties: Support litigators that have a high volume of work. Assisting and providing a wide range of legal support to the supervising attorney. Maintain files, conduct legal research, draft documents, communicate with clients and other parties involved in the cases etc. E-filing knowledge in preparation to file all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, and motions. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations and articles. Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and in the firm's document Management software. Gather, maintain current and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Write reports to help attorneys prepare for trial. Obtain affidavits and other formal documents/statements that may be used as evidence in court. Assist lawyers during trials by handlings exhibits, taking notes or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents (after lawyer has reviewed and approved) with the court or opposing council. Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions. Qualifications: Should have 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal. Knowledge of legal documents and terminology. Experience in toxic tort or asbestos would be ideal. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of billing. Knowledge of investigating the facts of a case. Strong Excel skills. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision.
