Part-time Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties: Will involve all aspects of our litigation practice ranging from the intake to the conclusion of a litigated matter. Perform independently and visualize each step of the litigation practice to assist the attorneys with all phases of their cases including opening and closing files, conducting interviews, preparation of discovery, legal research, document filing and generally support the litigation practice under the supervision of the attorneys in the office. Will have involvement in all phases of the litigation process. Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments. Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court. Perform administrative duties including calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, preparing correspondence, pleadings and reports. Draft and summarize discovery. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices. Aid attorneys with interrogatories, document inspection, request for admission, site inspection and other discovery requests. Gather relevant information from a variety of sources. Coordinate and work with counsel from other firms, vendors and clients parties. Qualifications: Paralegal Associates Degree, other relevant certification or experience. 1-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal/litigation assistant. Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures. Highly organized with the ability to work knowing there are multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail. Extensive computer and database expertise. Experience with Abacus, Time Slips, and Microsoft Office Software. Calendaring Experience.
