Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities: Follow the ethical requirements in order to assist in the preparation of cases for trial. Assist attorney in trial preparation and set-up of electronic equipment in the courtroom; provide court assistance, as required. Review and analyze cases in order to assist with all phases of discovery, trial preparation and trial support. Draft petitions, responses, routine notices, affidavits, motions, subpoenas, privilege logs, exhibit lists, discovery, disclosures and other legal documentation. Establish, organize and maintain pleading indexes, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists. Organize and synthesize information through the preparation of summaries, chronologies, reports and spreadsheets. Locate and confer with expert witnesses and resource people, including the obtaining of written statements from witnesses. Conduct research and locate cases, depositions, opinions, reports and information related to the matter, using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems. Utilize computerized litigation techniques and software when applicable. Operate standard office equipment such as photocopiers, fax software, personal computer, typewriter. Review and summarize deposition transcripts, etc. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate are highly recommended. 3 years of on-the-job experience is required. Possess knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent. Knowledge of state and federal court rules, procedures and e-filing requirements, as well as excellent communication skills and excellent proofreading skills. Self-motivated, proficient in Relativity and Trial Director, as well as the ability to cite-check and shepardize cases, blue book cases, prepare tables of contents, and tables of authorities. The ability to travel to private and public buildings, local and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters. Possess the ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when evaluating legal matters;
