Real Estate Paralegal The candidate will assist a cross-office team of attorneys and other professionals in delivering high-quality legal services in a variety of industries. Contact with clients and, under the direction of the firm's attorneys, play a vital role in managing and closing transactions. Review and prepare general correspondence, escrow instructions, deeds and other property transfer documents. Review and prepare loan documents, including deeds of trust, promissory notes and guarantees, by incorporating terms of loan commitments into form documents. Review and prepare lease and easement agreements. Review and prepare abstracts for purchase and sale contracts, leases and other real estate documents. Order and review searches of state and local courts and governmental agencies for UCC filings and bankruptcy and judgment records. Order and review title reports and title commitments, and coordinate clearing of title exceptions, preparation and review of pro forma title policies, and issuance of title policies with appropriate title endorsements. Obtain, review and prepare corporate entity documents, including formation and governance documents and authorizing consents and resolutions related to purchasing, selling and financing real property. Prepare and manage closing checklists, outlining critical dates and the responsibilities of all parties. Track and calendar important dates. Coordinate closings with various parties, including buyers, sellers, lenders, title insurance companies, exchange companies and escrow agents and their respective attorneys. Coordinate preparation and review of settlement statements, including the gathering and proration of figures from lenders, tax authorities and other parties. Organize closing documents and other files, including client-produced templates and forms. Research legal issues as directed by attorneys and stay abreast of changes in laws, regulations and procedures affecting the industries and clients served by the firm. Perform administrative responsibilities, which may include disseminating changes in codes, statutes, regulations and procedures to others in the firm and maintaining current files of forms used in the practice area. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred. Should have expertise in real estate transactions, including closings, escrow, title review, and surveys in one or more of the states in which the firm's lawyers practice. Should have strong skills in word processing, spreadsheet, email and time management software in a Windows-based environment.
